Ways I've Served My Community:
Chair of the Carson Valley Friends of the NRA - During my tenure as chair the group has grown substantially, and we've had two well-attended, highly successful fundraising events.
Member, Battle Born Mounted Posse - had a great time riding with the group for parking control at the Genoa Candy Dance, the flag pole dedication at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center, 4th of July Celebration at Chateau Senior Living Center and recently at the Lillian Virgin Finnegan statue dedication in Genoa.
Appointee, Senior Services and Public Transportation Advisory Council by Douglas County Board of Commissioners - a "cause" close to my heart, that most recently has me working diligently to bring permanent DART Service on a three-day-a-week basis to south Douglas County
Voter Registration Chair of Douglas County Central Committee - During this time the local Republican Party has enjoyed a nearly 10% increase in voter registration! We're now approaching 20,000 registered Republicans here in Douglas County!
Additional Representative, State of Nevada Republican Party (on behalf of Douglas County Republican Central Committee) - I participated and voted in September at the State Party Fall Meeting in Winnemucca.
Scouts - started as a Cub Scout and went all the way to Eagle Scout. I was inducted in the honor society of the "Order of the Arrow" and became President of my Explorer Post in 1966.
Junior Chamber of Commerce 1971 to 2000 - Elected offices in local group include President, Lt. District Governor, and District Governor. From 1977 to 1978 I was National Director of the California Jaycees and was recognized as Outstanding National Director. Statewide, I was subsequently elected as a Vice President of the California Jaycees in 79-80 and again in 84-85. In that same year I was recognized as Executive Committee Member of the Year. One of my most valued honors was to be given a Lifetime Membership in Jaycees International (Senatorship #32784) in 1981. Not stopping there, though, as I felt strongly about Jaycees and its mission, I was elected Secretary of the California Jr Chamber Jaycees International Senators auxiliary organization in 1991, Vice President in 1992, and President in 1993. I am grateful to have been chosen "Senator of the Year" for 1994-1995 and 1996-1997. Winding up my service in Jaycees, I served many terms as a trustee to the California Jr Chamber Foundation and was elected President for a two-year term in 1998-2000.
Lions Club 2004 to 2010 - After becoming a "Lion" on the big island of Hawaii, I relocated to Oahu in 2006 and transferred to the Kamehameha Lions Club of Honolulu, where I was elected to its Board of Directors for 2007-2008. Being elected 2nd VP led to my term as President in 2009-2010. During that term, the Club grew to 100 members for the first time in 65 years and earned the "Outstanding Club of the Year" for all of Hawaii.
Mustang Car Club - In August of 2011, I moved back to the mainland and joined the Central Valley Mustang Car Club (who can resist a Shelby Mustang Cobra?). I exchanged my regular membership for the mantle of club President after a few years. The Club undertook "Central Valley Fallen Heroes Car Show" under my leadership and we raised more than $15K in its trial run year for fallen and injured Fresno County Peace Officers, firefighters, and military. That effort has now become a 501-c-3 charitable foundation and continues to raise over $20K annually.
California Republican Party - Delegate to the California GOP Central Committee (Representative of State Republican Senator Don Wagner).
California Republican Assembly - Joined in March, 2013. Elected as a Deputy District Director to the state organization and then appointed as a Vice-President for the Central Coast. Appointed as State Parliamentarian and then elected to serve a full term as Vice President.
Alternate Delegate to the Republican National Convention for Presidential Candidate, Ted Cruz, 2016
